One-Time Customer

One Time Customer

Do you ever undertake or look for business opportunities that do not involve a customer buying something from you, say, for the benefit of your local community?

What if a woman walks into your store who has been recently widowed? She wants to transfer her late husband’s guns to her late husband’s brother, and she came to you to see if you can help her out. Do you entertain helping her with the transfer, particularly if your state requires a background check on private party transferees?

If so, there may be a high probability that the widow may never use your services or set foot inside your business establishment ever again after helping her with the private transfer. So, adding her to FFLAssist as a normal “customer”, complete with full name, address, ATF and state info, etc., is pointless.

But what if you wanted to charge her a “transfer” fee, say $35? FFLAssist’s sales invoices require that you invoice someone…a customer. You cannot simply leave the Customer information blank on the sales invoice.

So, what FFLAssist allows, and what we recommend, is for you to set up a “one-time” customer. The customer gets set up as normal, but the customer’s name is simply “One-time Customer”. If desired, you could name it something else, such as “Cash Customer” or “Counter Customer”. Every time I walk into my local auto parts store and buy something, my receipt always reads “Cash Customer” because I am not a local mechanic with an established business account with the parts store.

So, in the case of charging this woman your transfer fee, you simply select the customer number that represents the one-time customer, add the fees, and take her money/credit card.

By having a “one-time” customer set up in your FFLAssist company, you can now easily take business opportunities that involve service instead of product. So, if another customer comes into your business, and wants you to bore sight their deer rifle, you simply reuse that “one-time customer” when invoicing for your service.
